Lights of Time: Augmented Reality Intervention at the Church of São Pedro dos Pescadores (Fortaleza, CE)
Lights of Time is an augmented reality experience developed for public space, which proposes a reflection on time, memory, and urban transformations in the Mucuripe neighborhood, in Fortaleza. The intervention takes place in front of the Church of São Pedro dos Pescadores, a symbolic heritage site of the local fishing community.
Inspired aesthetically by the works of Ceará artist Raimundo Cela, the experience combines digital and visual languages to evoke different temporal layers — past, present, and possible futures. Through WebAR technology (Augmented Reality accessible via browser), visitors are invited to interact with a digital hourglass, accessing visual and narrative content directly from their own phones, with no need for apps.
The activation happens through an interactive urban furniture piece, specially designed for the location, which functions as a portal to the experience. The project aims to integrate art, technology, and heritage, promoting a sensitive connection between collective memory and innovation.
